About their love story

How did you meet?

Our story might seem ordinary – we met at work.

But… over the years, our friendship blossomed into something much more profound, and we began dating!

Can you share a memorable moment from your relationship leading up to the wedding?

It’s funny, with a five-year engagement and another five years before the wedding, picking one “memorable moment” feels almost impossible!

We built a life together, brick by brick. Buying our first home was a huge step, and then our daughter arriving was pure magic. But truthfully, becoming Mr & Mrs was the cherry on the cake to cementing our love for each other and our little family unit.

About the wedding planning process

Why did you choose a wedding venue in Nottingham for your special day?

Finding the right venue was a bit of a challenge for us. We had a lot of things on our list – you know, wanting a place with comfortable rooms for guests to stay on-site, enough space for everyone to mingle and celebrate, and hopefully some nice outdoor areas too.

Honestly, as soon as we pulled up to The Nottinghamshire, we knew it was the one. The location was perfect, and the whole place had this great vibe with stunning landscapes.

The staff was super friendly when we toured, and they showed us all the different options for setting up the ceremony and reception. It just felt like it would be a really relaxed and enjoyable space for everyone.

How did you find the process of planning your wedding with The Nottinghamshire?

We found it really straightforward and stress free!

Due to various reasons, we worked with 3 different wedding planners. Ultimately, Emma ended up looking after us and she was so calm, cool, and collected – we always felt really relaxed, listened to, and understood after meeting and speaking with her.

Did you have a specific theme or colour scheme? Why?

We always wanted to have an elegant and timeless feel to our wedding. The neutral tones of the décor at The Nottinghamshire really played into our vision.

We went with more of a colour palette than a specific colour scheme, lots of neutrals and calm colours and foliage – eucalyptus played a big part!

Which aspects of the wedding were you most excited about?

While saying “I do” was obviously the ultimate highlight, there were so many things we were looking forward to! After ten incredible years together, the wedding felt like a huge celebration of our love and our journey as a couple.

The food was definitely high on the list. After the menu tasting, we knew our guests were in for a treat – the chefs at The Nottinghamshire are incredible! We couldn’t wait to share that amazing food with everyone.

And of course, dancing the night away with friends and family was a must! We knew the atmosphere at The Nottinghamshire would be perfect for letting loose and having a blast.

About the big day at our wedding venue in Nottingham

What was the most unforgettable part of your day?

The entire day was a whirlwind of happiness, but there’s one moment that truly stands out.

Right before the ceremony began, as the doors opened and we saw each other for the first time that day, the emotions just came flooding in.

We were both a little teary-eyed, surrounded by all the people we love most in the world. It felt absolutely perfect, a moment of pure joy and love that captured the essence of the entire day.

The surprise fireworks display from Rock-It Fireworks Displays was the icing on the cake! They were absolutely sensational, and it was the perfect way to end the night with a bang.

How did The Nottinghamshire’s team contribute to making your day special?

Honestly, the staff at The Nottinghamshire were amazing. You know how weddings can be a bit chaotic, with a million things going on at once? Well, with them, it felt like everything just…ran itself.

We didn’t have to worry about a thing, they handled it all. It meant we could just relax and enjoy the day with our family and friends. They were super friendly and helpful too, always there with a smile if we needed anything.

Couldn’t have asked for a better team!

Were there any unexpected moments? How were they handled?

Thankfully, the day itself went off without a hitch! Everything seemed to flow perfectly, and we were completely in the moment, enjoying every second.

It rained a bit throughout the day, which actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It kept everyone cosy inside, and the dance floor was packed all night long! Looking back, even the “unexpected” rain added to the festive atmosphere.

Advice to other couples planning their wedding in Nottingham?

Our biggest piece of advice is to carefully select your suppliers and then trust them.

We used suppliers who were recommended by our venue – Iced & Spliced by Cakey Wakey for our venue decorations, Austen Blakemore for our photography, Marvellous Videography for our wedding videos, and Paul Grundle Magician for entertainment – and just trusted them to do a fantastic job.

This meant we were totally free to enjoy the day and just be with our friends and family. We wanted to enjoy our big day as much as possible, rather than trying to micromanage every little thing.

Would you recommend The Nottinghamshire? Why?

Absolutely! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Nottinghamshire to anyone looking for a truly magical wedding venue in Nottingham. In fact, several of our guests have already told us it was the best wedding they’d ever been to!

There are so many reasons why we loved it. The staff was incredible – professional, friendly, and always there to ensure everything ran smoothly. The venue itself is stunning, with beautiful outdoor spaces and elegant interiors. The food was exceptional, and the onsite accommodations were perfect for our guests.

The Nottinghamshire provided the perfect atmosphere for celebrating our love with the people we care about most. It was a truly unforgettable experience, and we owe a huge part of that to the amazing team at The Nottinghamshire.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

Well, maybe if we could control the weather, we wouldn’t have had the rain showers! But honestly, even that ended up being a fun memory.

We snuck out for a quick picture with an umbrella, and it became a really cute moment. So no, nothing major – just a reminder that sometimes the little things can add to the charm of the day!

Any final thoughts about your experience with The Nottinghamshire?

Just a really big “thank you” to all the staff who were involved in our day. Everything from the hotel rooms, the hosting, the food, the décor, the running order – everything was just perfect!
