Real Wedding Series : Shaun & Sarah’s Winter Wonderland

On 1st December 2017, Shaun and Sarah Wheatcroft celebrated their marriage with a traditional church service in Southwell, followed by a spectacular reception at our Nottingham wedding venue.

We sat down with the newlyweds to reflect on their unforgettable Winter Wonderland wedding and their experiences at The Nottinghamshire.

How did you choose The Nottinghamshire as your wedding venue?

“After looking at a number of stately homes and upmarket country houses, we were unable to find a venue that met all of our needs. From the moment we walked into The Nottinghamshire to the moment we left the morning after our marriage, we couldn’t have asked for more.”

Why did you choose Nottingham for your wedding?

“We wanted to be local as we met in Nottingham, so it would reflect our love story. The countryside is beautiful, offering a picturesque backdrop for our special day. Additionally, Nottingham has good connections, making it easily reachable for all our family and friends.”

How was your experience working with your wedding planner?

“Our wedding planner Claire was amazing throughout and was on hand to help with everything. Claire’s determination and commitment to our day was unparalleled, and she was one of the main reasons the wedding went as swimmingly well as it did.”

Can you describe the theme and decorations for your special day?

“We had created a classic Winter Wonderland theme for our special day, taking inspiration from the season with a delicate colour palette of crisp white and silver.

We loved the attention to detail, from the Christmas Carol table names to the fir cone place names. Christmas arrived early here at The Nottinghamshire!”

What was your impression of the staff at The Nottinghamshire?

“The staff were always polite and very helpful. They were also so friendly with our guests and interacted which made a massive difference. The staff helped to plan and decorate the venue for our reception, and the room blew us away when we first walked in.”

Did The Nottinghamshire meet your expectations for your wedding day?

“When you imagine your wedding day, you want everything to be perfect, but you don’t always think that is going to be possible.

The Nottinghamshire helped us realise this, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a venue that goes that extra mile for your special day.”

What was your favourite thing about our Nottingham wedding venue?

“We have a couple of favourites. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure everything ran smoothly and that our guests felt welcomed. The location was perfect, providing a beautiful backdrop for our photos and a convenient setting for our guests.

And of course, the venue itself was stunning – from the elegant decor to the well-maintained grounds, everything was just perfect.”
