The Nottinghamshire Golf Club has taken a significant step towards environmental sustainability by partnering with the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.

This collaboration aims to enhance the local ecosystem and promote biodiversity on the golf course and surrounding areas.

In this blog post, we’ll discuss the details of this exciting partnership, exploring how it benefits both the environment and the golfing community. We’ll explore the specific initiatives undertaken, the positive impact on local wildlife, and the future goals of this green alliance.

A new partnership for a greener Nottinghamshire

We are excited to announce that we have teamed up with the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and, in doing so, are helping to showcase the health and wellbeing benefits of spending time in green spaces and places rich in wildlife.

By providing the Trust with £1,200 of in-kind support, the future of Nottinghamshire’s landscape looks promising.

By joining as a Wildlife Guardian, grounds staff can now take advantage of the advice Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust can provide, particularly on species identification and the successful management of habitats on site – which already includes a purpose-built kingfisher hide.

A project that is already ongoing in the local area is The Cotgrave Forest Area Project, where Ben Driver, a Southern Conservation Officer at the Trust, advises on how to help improve this outstanding area, known for its butterfly populations – linking living landscapes together.

How nature can support positive mental health

Club owner Alan Hardy is keen to contribute to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s Health & Wellbeing initiative which promotes volunteering on nature reserves as a way of helping reduce mental health issues such as depression, stress and anxiety.

The Nottingham business mogul – whose corporate portfolio also includes Notts County FC and Paragon Interiors Group – said:

“I am delighted that we have agreed a level of support to initiate this working relationship. The Wildlife Trust’s activities encouraging people to spend time outdoors in beautiful green spaces and interact with wildlife aligns well with our business as a Golf Club, and I will endeavour to see how we can develop this over the coming years.”

Becoming a Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust corporate supporter can not only fulfil the demands of companies’ corporate social responsibility but can improve the health and wellbeing of staff through the Trust’s corporate volunteering sessions and giving back to the local community.

By joining a network of local companies, businesses are committed to improving the environment in which customers and employees live and can benefit by attracting new customers and clients as well as helping to raise companies’ profiles.

Holly McCain, Senior Development Officer at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust commented:

“It is a pleasure to award Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club Wildlife Guardian status, and we are delighted that they too share our passion for inspiring people to spend time outside in green spaces and enhance these for wildlife.  By working with their staff out in the local environment, together we can improve the wildlife that employees, customers, and local people can enjoy.”

Our long term nature goals

Nottinghamshire Golf Club is committed to creating a sustainable and wildlife-friendly environment.

Our long-term nature goals include increasing biodiversity by creating diverse habitats, conserving local wildlife species, implementing sustainable water management practices, and engaging the community in conservation efforts.

By working with the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, we aim to make a lasting positive impact on our local environment.
