The awards ceremony took place on Thursday 25th October 2018 and celebrating sporting success across the region throughout 2018, however the Lifetime Achievement award sponsored by The Nottinghamshire celebrated a career that spanned much longer.
“There are certain individuals whose sustained contribution to sport in Nottinghamshire over many years merits special recognition. This award celebrates a truly special sportsperson who has made a lasting impact on the region through their phenomenal career in sport. The winner will have made an outstanding contribution to sport over a minimum of 15 years.”

The 2018 winners of The Nottingham Post Sports Lifetime Achievement Award were Nottingham’s most famous Olympians Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. Almost 35 years since they won the hearts of the nation – and gold medals at the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo with their legendary Bolero performance – the former ice dancing duo took centre stage on a special night with Jayne receiving the award from Alan Hardy and Christopher live by video link from his home in America.
